SimplyMap Trial: Marketing and Census mapping

February 18th, 2008 by LOCL Resources

SimplyMap is a Web-based mapping application that enables you to quickly create professional-quality thematic maps and reports using in-depth business and marketing datasets relating to consumer habits, income and expenses, as well as with detailed 1990 and 2000 U.S. Census data.

To understand a few concepts related to creating maps in SimplyMap, as well as information on how to access and overlap statistics from the many available datasets, watching the 6-minute introductory video is strongly recommended.  The video can be accessed by clicking on the “Tutorial” link in the top right corner of the SimplyMap screen.

To access the trial you must create a user name and password.  This trial is accessible on-campus only and will be in effect until March 14th.

If you are interested in providing feedback to the Libraries on SimplyMap, please contact Taya Franklin.

What a great resource for demographic research. It seems exceptionally useful for a number of potential projects in several fields.
