Library Speaker Series – Aleksander Hemon

You are invited to the University Libraries second Speaker Series for 2009-2010. Guggenheim and MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant recipient, Aleksandar Hemon will discuss his prize winning work, The Lazarus Project, on Tuesday,October 27. 6:00 p.m. in the Crown Center Auditorium, Lake Shore Campus. Hemon’s works also include three collections of short stories: The Question of Bruno; Nowhere Man, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; and Love and Obstacles. Aleksandar Hemon was born in Sarajevo and visited Chicago in 1992, intending to stay for a matter of months. While he was here, Sarajevo came under siege, and he was unable to return home. This Bosnian born, Chicago-based writer tells the stories and moral discoveries that come with displacement.
