The 6th edition of the APA Publication Manual is one of the style guides that we had placed on all floors of the IC and Cudahy Library. It is also in the Cudahy Library Reference Collection. This new edition is fraught with errors, requiring the printing of two correction inserts (a temporary fix) and the reprinting of the new edition.

The correction inserts have been placed inside the front cover of the copy on the second floor of the IC and in the Cudahy Library Reference Collection. Comparable information is available online at http://supp.apa.org/style/pubman-reprint-corrections-for-2e.pdf.

All of our other copies are being sent back to the publisher who insists on having the problematic copies back before providing correced ones.  As soon as we receive and process those, we will send back the remaining two so that they are replaced.  (This is the plan, at least.  David Givens is negotiating this with the publisher as I type this post.)

Please be prepared to explain this situation as best you can if asked about it.  And, please keep watch on the second floor IC copy of the manual.  It’s a rare resource now and at a key time in the semester.  Unfortunate, but unavoidable it would seem.

Please do not refer people to 108D unless you have communicated with someone in the office who has confirmed that they are available to meet with a visitor.

Thanks, Jeannette

Our current practice is for the librarian to alert the G.A. staff member when there is shelving to be done. Please go to shelve/straighten the section around the 10:00 hour regardless if the librarian alerts you of books to be shelved. Also, during the latter part of the semester, please shelve during the evening break, also.

Thank you

The Health Sciences Library will be closed this morning so that all the staff can attend a service for Mary Klatt. If you do get any calls from the patrons at the HS Library, do what you can for them. At this point we don’t know when they will be re-opening.

Thanks 0
Susan

Congratulations to Raneath Sokha, winner of the Loyola University Libraries’ Video Tour Contest!  Raneath visited many services in the IC and Cudahy, including Reference where he stopped for a brief chat with our own Megan.

Thanks Megan!

Beginning immediately, please add WebChat IM (not AJCU) stats and Text-a-Librarian stats to LibStats using the appropriate Question Format selection.

We have a new lost and found policy for the IC. I have printed a copy and placed it by the statistics clipboard. Please review the policy and begin following the new procedures. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks,
Jeannette
