June 2010

Please remember to reshelve and take browse counts in the Cudahy Library Reference Collection according to our new procedure effective July 1st.  Refresh your memory regarding the procedure by reviewing its documentation in the blue binder at the second floor desk in the IC.  It may also be found on a page linked from the right column of this blog.

If you have not been trained on the new reshelving procedure, please do not reshelve until that training has occurred.  Instead, on the date of the morning shift when you would otherwise reshelve,  please send an e-mail to jcurrie@luc.edu so that the task can be handled by another member of the Reference Services Department.

There are some contractors in the building adding outlets to rooms 001, 201, 301, and 308. They did not warn of any power outages but I understand that the outlets in 201 or 208 were off for a time yesterday and that may recur, f.y.i.

They will also be painting 301 and 308 and these will be the future locations of the graduate study rooms.

Please let me know if you have any questions or run into any problems associated with this work.

Best,
Anne

A new page has been inserted in the blue manual that is kept at the second floor desk in the Information Commons.  Please use it to refresh your memory about the locations where students and others may find the most commonly used style manuals (MLA, APA, Chicago, Turabian, and the Bedford handbook).

Hello,

The new combination copier/scanners have been installed in the IC. There is an information brochure on how to use them located at the IC reference desk. You may want to familiarize yourself with the new scanning feature the next time you are up there.

The copiers in the IC are being replaced today.  They may be unavailable for short periods this afternoon.
