May 2012

The IC and Cudahy will close at 4:00pm on Saturday to leave time for preparations for the Founders Dinner (

Please note that the IC/Cudahy WILL NOT be open to public at all on Saturday.

The Board of Trustees will be on the 4th floor tomorrow and will use the Quiet Reading Room. Please be aware that some might ask for directions.

IC 314 has been used as a teleconference room for the past year, but the teleconference equipment is going to be moved into IC 332. Reservations for IC 332 can be made through the campus reservations system. [Note:  332 is not yet on campus reservations.  I will update you as soon as this is the case. In the meantime, if there are questions please direct them to me.  Thanks. Jeannette]

IC 314 will be considered a staff meeting room during the 8-5 hours, meaning that it can be reserved by library staff during that time. If you receive requests to reserve that room from outside of the library, please forward them to Jeannette. After 5:00, the room will become a group study room, and it can be reserved using the group study reservation room.

During the Summer term, only those students who are currently enrolled in a course at Loyola may check out equipment such as laptops, headphones, etc. from the ITS 2nd Floor Desk and from the Digital Media Lab. This means that if a student is enrolled for the Fall or for a later Summer session class, but is not enrolled for the current session, he or she cannot check out media equipment.

Just FYI. The commencement ceremonies are followed by open house receptions on Level 1 of the IC. There will be many graduates present with their friends and families. Though we won’t have a lot of reference questions, you may have more general questions than usual during these times. IC staff and campus safety will be present during the after hour receptions.

In case you have had questions about the blinds on the West windows being down more than normal. There appears to be two reasons:

A decision was made to keep the blinds down during the evening in order to prevent migratory birds from crashing into the building because of the building lights. Fred has request that the blinds be open during the day,at least through commencement and the accompanying receptions.

In addition, facilities has been doing tests and repairs on the blinds, which has required them to be down more hours during the day than usual.

Hi, everyone. This is a reminder that the last shuttle run for the semester will be the 2:00 p.m. departures from both campuses on Tuesday, tomorrow. Shuttle service will resume on the first day of the fall semester, August 27th. –Anne
