For some mysterious reason, we are not able to access MLA International Bibliography (the primary database for literary research) through the Proquest platform. Users who click on the link to MLAIB will end up at the Proquest page, but they will be searching all of the OTHER Proquest databases, not MLAIB. We are working on the problem.

In the meantime, we do have access to MLAIB through another database called Literature Online (LION). Please instruct users to enter the LION database through our website, and follow links to “Criticism.” There users have the option to search both MLAIB and ABELL (a similar database for literary scholars).

If any patrons have more questions, please ask them to e-mail me: nmcguigan@luc.edu

Thanks,
Niamh

Whenever patrons complain about it being cold on a certain floor of the IC, please let them know that we will report it. The step to be taken is to notify the IC supervisor on duty and let them know what the issue is. They will contact Facilities so that the temperature can be adjusted by closing the windows if need be.

A group of International Baccalaureate students from Senn High School will be spending time in the IC during the CPS strike.  They have conference login IDs, but we are not issuing guest passes.   Students will check in in at the front desk with their Senn IDs and will be either studying or preparing for upcoming assignments.     Please assist them as we would all guests and let me know if there are any problems with providing support.

Students who wish to borrow books may request a courtesy card from the Circulation Desk.

If a student has a problem with a login please do not send them to IT help.  Ask them to contact their administrator, Charles Tocci.

Thanks,

Jeannette

If you have not already, please take a look a the new group study room system via the IC web site or on the kiosk at the south end of the level 2 service desk.   If those of you who were aware of it, the e-mail confirmation message can now be viewed properly by all who reserve a room.

Right now, there is only an option to reserve rooms for two hours, but Adam is adding the one hour option soon.

Thanks,

Jeannette
